Underwater Cutting Wheel
Our underwater cutting wheels (UCWs) offer cutting power ranging from 50 to 1000 kW and are cost-effective on a variety of materials, including silt, clay, sand, and soft rock.
When dredgers are used for mining applications, UCWs offer the advantage of equal production in both swing directions. In uniform soil conditions, our UCWs can reduce spillage and thus increase production in tons per hour (t/hr). Our unique, heavy-duty wheel units, featuring two wheel halves and a changeover valve in the suction mouth, deliver long-lasting, cost-effective performance.
The standard range of VOSTA LMG UCWs is divided into a hydraulic line and an electric line.
The selection of the right cutting wheel for the required dredging task depends on various factors, such as:
- Mechanical and chemical properties of the soil to be dredged
- Available torque and speed of the cutting wheel
- Kinematics and shape of the cutting tool
- Kinematics of the dredger (side winch force and speed, spud position, spud feed, dredging depth, etc.)
